Counting Objects
Performance Objectives:
- The students, when asked to count up to 20 objects arranged in a line, will be able to accurately count the correct number of items specified from the display at least 80% of the time. (i.e Can you count 10 crayons?)
- The students, when asked to count up to 20 objects arranged in a rectangular , will be able to accurately count the correct number of items specified from the displayed at least 80% of the time. (i.e Can you count 12 cheerios?)
- The students, when asked to count up to 20 objects arranged in a circle, will be able to accurately count the correct number of items specified from the items displayed at least 80% of the time. (i.e Can you count 6 pencils?)
- The students, when asked to count up to 10 scattered objects, will be able to accurately count the correct number of items specified from the items displayed at least 80% of the time. (i.e Can you count 3 Leggos?)
Line Count
- Place 20 items in a line. Examples of items are Leggos, blocks, candies, stickers, erasers, pennies.
- Use your flashcards 1-20.
- Ask child can you count_?
- Have child count aloud
- When child succeds give them a high five, thumbs up, or do a dance. Whatever keeps them motivated.
- If child gets the answer wrong reset the items and count with them. Make sure the child repeats the number after you or counts with you.
- Place all cards that were not accurately counted aside to practice with the next exercise.
- Watch the video for a sample.
Rectangle Count
- Places items in a rectangle formation before have the child count.
- Use your flashcards 1-20.
- Ask child can you count_?
- Have child count aloud
- When child succeds give them a high five, thumbs up, or do a dance. Whatever keeps them motivated.
