Creating a Presentation in Sway
What is Sway?
Sway is a new and easy to use program from Office that allows users to create presentations. Presentations can include backgrounds, text, pictures, videos, tweets, graphs, and more. Follow these easy steps to create your own Sway presentations for

How to Create a Sway Presentation
Step 1 - Sign in to Office 365
- Type portal.office365.com into navigation bar
- Enter username: studentid@hanfordesd.org
- Enter password: patriot
Step 2 - Start a new Sway
- Select "sway"
- Select "create new"
Step 3 - Add a title
- click on “title your sway” and enter your desired title
Step 4 - Add a background
- Click on the “background” box
- Choose Bing as your search engine
- Type desired text into the search box
- Drag a photo over to the “background” box
Step 5 - Preview
- Click "preview" to view your Sway at any time
Step 6 - Add headings and text
- Select “cards”
- Select “heading”
- Type in “add a heading” box
- You may click "link" to direct users to another website if desired
- Repeat these steps for adding text, but click on "text" instead of "heading"
Step 7 - Add pictures
- Select “cards”
- Select “picture”
- Repeat steps used to select the picture for the background
Step 8 - Add videos
- Select “cards”
- Select “video”
- Select “add a video”
- Select YouTube as your video search engine
- Type into the search box to find a video and drag your selection to the “add a video” box
Step 9 - Add tweets
- Select “cards”
- Select “tweets”
- Select “add a tweet”
- Select twitter
- Search for a tweet, select one, and drag the tweet to “add a tweet” box
Step 10 - Upload items from your computer
- Select “insert”
- Click down arrow
- Select “upload”
- Choose a file from your computer to upload to Sway
Step 11 - Arrange and customize cards
- Select “cards”
- Scroll down to “group”
- Select a group option of your choice to arrange your cards on your presentation
- Drag the desirable cards into the group
- While in a card, select “options” to adjust the size of the card
Step 12 - Choose fonts and colors
- select “design”
- choose the font and color you want for your presentation
Step 13 - Select page layout
- Select "navigation"
- Choose your desired page layout
Step 14 - Remix option
- Choose “remix” to have Sway randomly pick the design and layout
Step 15 - Undo
- Select the back arrow at any time to undo your last move
Step 16 - Play your Sway
- Click “play” to view your presentation the way that others will see it
Step 17 - Share
- Select “share”
- You may choose to keep your sway private, share it online with others who have a provided link, or make it available to the public
