Group Project
|
This short group project builds on the visual literacy and graphic design skills that you were introduced to and practiced in Week 5. Using PowerPoint, each group should submit a 3-5 minute presentation on some aspect of the "Three R's" being studied in this course: "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle." The content of this presentation should be suitable for UMUC's web site Pathways to the Three R's. Please visit the "Pathways to the Three R's" web site and become familiar with the content of the multimedia projects done by other students and found in the Multimedia Presentations section of the site. Important Notes:1. Your final grade on this project is not dependent in any way on your project being chosen for inclusion on the site "Pathways to the Three R's." References to the site are provided to you merely as models of what some students in the past have done. 2. Remember your purpose and audience. A key element in this course has been learning to communicate important information about environmental sustainability to a public audience for the purpose of raising awareness and changing behavior. The design and language of your presentation should be done with this audience and purpose in mind. A major part of your grade will be determined by how effectively your presentation communicates with a public audience. 4. Image license. A resource such as Google Image Search is invaluable because it allows quick access to a wide variety of images without regard to licensing and copyright, but only if the use is for school assignments. However, for this project--designed for a public audience--you must use only those images for which you have a license. A license gives you permission to use a copyrighted image in a certain way for a certain length of time. Fortunately, today it is easy to obtain a free or nearly-free license to use images in your web presentations.
6. All students have been assigned to Study Groups and should conduct group work there. If you have questions for Professors Fu or Taylor, please post them to this thread so that the entire class may benefit. 7. Each member of the group should submit a copy of the team's PowerPoint to his or her Assignment Folder (Project #2). David Taylor |
